Marketing Against Open Source

Here is an attempt to market against Open Source.

First, call Open Source ‘freeware’. To acknowledge that it’s open source is apparently a weakness. Wietse, Bernstein, and Allman might have an action here for disparagement.

Second, impress people with references to lasers. And sharks, perhaps.

Third, infer that because your company is focused on a niche market that your product is better than an open source product at the same task, but don’t actually say that, unless you know it to be true.

Fourth, learn about typography from Dvorak (he’d use red if he could).

And no matter what, don’t link to any studies to back up your claims.
