BFC Computing provides consulting on open source software, Internet architectures, digital security, and network infrastructure as well as providing software development services, system administration, on-call and as-needed support services and dynamic website development.
Aside from the technical bits, we’re really about solving business problems. We focus on understanding the business problem, working with the client to develop a solution, and ensuring that the solution meets the needs.
We work independently, as subcontractors, as a general contractor, at the direction of internal IT staff, or in a Rent-A-CIO functionality. We can manage a project from requirements to delivery, or just focus on a small part. We’re even available to help with assessments, testing, and second opinions when projects may need to be set back on track.
We’re fully committed to open methodologies at BFC Computing, and just as we expect our open source products to be fully transparent, we should do the same. They say it’s a “sales faux pas” to tell your customers your prices up front, but in our case, we believe we’ve earned a reputation for quality, honesty, and efficiency and that we’re better off being forthright and not playing games. We’ve also compared our prices to the industry, and have seen that we’re quite competitive, even discounting the efficiency of our services.
In this difficult economic environment, we’re committed to being as affordable as possible to our business partners and have kept prices roughly steady since 2007, despite the increases in costs that everybody has had to bear. That said, as technology increases in power, we can accomplish more and more each hour over time though the use of better systems and increased automation, so even as we absorb the costs of inflation, our value is ever-increasing.
Standard Project Hours
1-hour Hourly Rate: $160 (core hours). Qualified educational institutions and pre-approved non-profits receive a 20% discount on standard rates. Discounts are dependent on on-time payment.
1 Month of On-Call Service, 24x7x365, 15 minute phone response, 4 hour on-site response: $2500.
Non-Contract Support Incidents (current clients only):
Core hours: as available (standard rates)
Extended Hours: $300 (1 hour included)
Off Hours: $450 (1 hour included)

Extended Hours and Off-Hours
Standard rates apply during core hours. Work done (at the customer’s election) during extended hours are billed at a 25% premium; work done during off hours are billed at a 50% premium. Off-hours support incidents are billed at a 2-hour minimum. BFC Computing works with clients to help implement redundant and high-availability solutions to enable 24×7 maintenance windows.
