As we parse the tortured Microsoft press release, Internet Explorer will automatically be uninstalled when you next update (on Patch Tuesday?)
Of special note, if any of your apps use the IE DLL they will be publicly vulnerable at the time of the next patch to the IE DLL, which Microsoft will continue to update.
To keep the IE DLL updated you will have to reinstall IE.
To know if you need to … well, who knows. e.g. does your tax software from four years ago embed it? Could be.
We’ve never supported IE and Microsoft’s attempts to control the free and open web, except by writing compliant and responsive code since 2004. So we’re glad it’s dead. But, Undead IE may come back to bite many people out there. Take care for what lies in the shadows.
